Ron Owens

After serving more than 30 years with the Oklahoma City Police Department, Ron Owens retired as a Captain commanding the Criminal Intelligence and Gang Enforcement Units. A native son of Oklahoma City and a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma, Owens spent his first 18 years on the force as a Patrolman and Detective including eight years in Homicide, 11 years as a hostage negotiator on the Tactical Team and other assignments in Narcotics, Sex Crimes and Special Projects. As a lieutenant, he was one of the first two instructors for the OCPD's first official training course for investigating officer-involved shootings.

Owens has published the following books with Turner Publishing: Oklahoma Justice, Oklahoma Heroes, Jelly Bryce, Legendary Lawman and Medal of Honor, Historical Facts and Figures. He currently lives in Oklahoma City doing the best job he ever had, professional grandfather.
