Sydney Metrick, PhD
A lifelong interest in the arts, myth and symbols led me to ritual. After completing a master’s degree in counseling psychology fortune led me to an internship at an alternative high school. There, my supervisor and I, worked with teens undergoing the transition of adolescence as teachers and counselors. We developed rituals to support and celebrate the various rites of passage that are part of that transition.
This led to our first book, The Art of Ritual. I went on to write I Do: A Guide to Creating Your Own Unique Wedding Ceremony and Crossing the Bridge: Creating Ceremonies for Grieving and Healing from Life’s Losses.
In my private practice I focused on working with people in the arts. Over time I earned a doctorate, transitioned from therapy to coaching, and my practice began to attract other non-linear thinkers as well as artists. Many of the people l currently work with have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD). Creating habits, routines, or rituals is a large part of helping my clients begin to design their lives.
