Tony Pavia

Principal Tony Pavia oversees all academic, athletic, and other New Canaan High School-run programs. Mr. Pavia earned a Bachelor’s Degree and Masters Degree in History-Education at Southern Connecticut State University as well as a Sixth Year Degree in Administration and Supervision from SCSU. At the beginning of his 33-year long career in education, Mr. Pavia taught history at Westhill High School, in Stamford, for five years before teaching at Wright Tech, a technical high school in Stamford, for one year. Mr. Pavia then wanted to move back to comprehensive high schools. He taught at Darien High School until hired at Stamford High School as the head of the history department and worked in this position for six years. While here, Mr. Pavia wrote An American Town Goes to War, a non-fiction book following Stamford, Connecticut’s experience with World War II.

After being offered an administrative position at Darien High School, Mr. Pavia returned to the school and became the Dean of Students and Assistant Principal for four years. Mr. Pavia then returned to Stamford as their principal. After six more years at Stamford High School, Mr. Pavia became New Canaan High School’s principal.
