I love eating steaks and fried eggs sunny side up. None of these foods are rich in antioxidants. So why I even wrote the book Pocket Antioxidants. Am I a hypocrite?
Well I do not eat steak and fried eggs everyday but occasionally. What I eat every morning is brown toast and fruits mostly strawberry, raspberry and apples. Fruits such as strawberry, raspberry and apples are high in phytochemicals and some of these chemicals are natural antioxidants. In addition, I also get vitamins I need from these fruits.
Eating a balanced meal everyday keeps you in good health and oxidative stress is a health hazard. A food plan rich in antioxidants can counteract oxidative stress and restore good health. We all experience stress every day and stress kills us by producing oxidative stress and stress hormone cortisol. However, nature also provides us with a solution which is plant based foods rich in antioxidant. I wrote the book pocket antioxidant so that you can carry it in your pocket when you do grocery and you can select food which will provide you antioxidant defense.
Avoid junk food and fried food as much as humanely possible. You can indulge in eating junk food once in a while but for most part eat well. You will avoid getting sick. Remember the proverb; an apple a day keeps doctors away. Why? Because apple is full of antioxidants.
