Food allergies are an emerging epidemic and one of the fastest growing public health concerns in the United States, and there is no known cure. The eight primary food allergies are to milk, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish; some may also be allergic to medication. A colicky baby might be allergic to milk, or a diaper rash might show up every time after an infant eats eggs. Skin and blood tests are essential for a definitive diagnosis.
