April 18, 2016 (Nashville, TN) - The first title in Nina Romano’s Wayfarer series, The Secret Language of Women, was recently awarded a 2016 Independent Publisher Book Award (IPPY) and a Gold Medal in the Romance Category.
This year marks the IPPY’s twentieth annual, and the awards were given to contestants in over eighty categories. The purpose of the awards, via the Independent Publisher website, is to serve as “a reading list of progressive, thought-provoking books, the kind that can touch lives, advance careers, and stretch our imaginations.”
The Secret Language of Women is the first book in Romano’s Wayfarer Trilogy, and is a love story set against the backdrop of the Boxer war – an era infused with superstition, history, and exotic customs. The story explores the universal themes of love and the atrocities of war, affirming that even in the face of tragedy, enduring love brings hope. The second book of the Wayfarer series, Lemon Blossoms, was released in February 2016, and the series’ final installment, In America, will release in July 2016.
