James Windell, M.A., is an author, blogger, and college instructor. He is the author or co-author of 24 books and editor of The Michigan Psychologist. He was a juvenile court psychologist for many years and was a group therapist with adolescent delinquents. His column Coping with Kids appeared weekly in newspapers, including the Journal Register newspapers and the Staten Island Advance, from 1986 to 2014. He has written several parenting books including 8 Weeks to a Well-Behaved Child, The Fatherstyle Advantage, 6 Steps to an Emotionally Intelligent Teenager, and The Everything Child Psychology and Development Book. He has been a parenting expert on AllExperts.com for 15 years and is a parenting expert on JustAnswer.com. He has taught parenting classes for 20 years and designed an award-winning parenting class for a juvenile court. He teaches criminal justice classes at Wayne State University in Detroit and Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. In addition to parenting books, he writes a wide variety of books, including those related to medicine, psychology, high-conflict divorce, and criminal justice. He is married to a speech therapist and is the father of two adult children and the stepfather of an adult son.
