Jeannie Burt

Jeannie grew up in a small farming community in the Northwest. After college, she worked for the airlines in San Francisco, then returned to the Northwest and to a career in corporate Human Resources and management.

In 1996 Jeannie was treated for breast cancer. She developed lymphedema after chemotherapy and radiation treatment. At that time, therapies for lymphedema were just coming to the states. Jeannie was fortunate to be referred to Gwen White, a physical therapist who had just gotten training and certification to treat the condition. At the time, there were no books written for patients with lymphedema; Gwen and Jeannie set out to write "Lymphedema: A Breast Cancer Patient's Guide to Prevention and Healing" intended for patients and their therapists.

Since leaving the corporate world, Jeannie has continued to live in the Northwest and has launched a career writing fiction. She has always wanted to tell stories and her first novel, "When Patty Went Away" was published February, 2014. She is currently working on two historical novels set in the late Nineteenth and early Twentieth centuries.
